SUMMARY
In conjunction with the NZ Timber Industry Federation (NZTIF), AIS presented an industry-based workshop on machinery guarding in the sawmilling and timber processing industry. This shared AIS experience of an incident in 2021. Presentations by AIS staff and independent industry experts led discussion on the machine guarding requirements, guarding audits and incident mitigation. Presenters were: Aaron Fisher, AIS Managing Director; Lee Williams, Mechanical Engineer; Leigh Routhan AIS Lead Engineer; and Stuart Spiers, Abbot Insurance Brokers. Two workshops were run, one in Christchurch and one in Rotorua. The speaking notes and presentations from the workshops are available below to enable attendees to refresh themselves on the material presented.
